Oxfam in Nepal is involved in TROSA project in Mahakali River basin to sustainably use fresh water, sand gravel, aquatic biodiversity, wildlife, culture and white, water exploration routes. The project has also promoted white water rafting activities in the Nepal side for Mahakali River. The aim is to engender cooperation between Nepal and India build on white water rafting activities in the Mahakali River. White water rafting promotion in the basin’s rivers can help strengthen cooperation among communities living across the international border river between Nepal and India. The policy brief has been developed by Rajan Subedi, River Basin Manager of Oxfam in Nepal and Ajay Dixit, Expert in Transboundary Water Governance demonstrating Rafting as the tool for transboundary water cooperation in Mahakali basin. The policy brief has highlighted rafting engagement in TROSA project to contribute to transboundary water cooperation, explored possibilities of increasing the engagement of private sectors and local government in enhancing rafting activities for supporting livelihood of local communities and also, evidence to document rafting as a tool for transboundary water cooperation.
